Spooktacular Coffin Wreath

Welcome to my blog! Thank you for stopping by to visit!

Today I want to share with you my version of the Halloween wreath made from the Coffin Treat Boxes found on page 53 of the 2019 Holiday Catalogue. I cased the wreath shown in the Holiday catalogue but added just a touch of my own flare.

To make the wreath it took 24 of the coffin treat boxes (2 packages). The boxes themselves are very simple to put together as they come pre-cut and scored for you. Just add some glue, fold and presto … a fun and spooky coffin box!!

I didn’t want to leave the boxes plain black as they came so I ran 12 of the lids through my Big Shot using the Stylish Scroll Embossing Folder before I assembled them.

For 6 of the remaining boxes I added spider web patterned paper from the Monster Bash Designer Series Paper, To do this I assembled the base of one of the Coffin Treat boxes and traced it onto the patterned paper and cut it out … this fit perfectly onto the lid of the treat box!!

After all of the Coffin Treat Boxes were assembled I used a sponge dauber and my Delicata Metallic Ink pad in Silvery Shimmer and distressed the edges and a bit across the top of all 24 lids, The next step was to glue the lids onto the coffin base and then to adhere all of the coffins together to form the wreath. I found that a hot glue gun worked best for this step.

To finish it off I added a focal point. I tied bows using Basic Black Satin Ribbon, Basic Black Scalloped Edge Ribbon and Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon. In the center of the large bows I added a Haunted House image cut from the Monster Bash Designer Series Paper, distressed the edges with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and attached it with Stampin’ Dimensionals to a Starburst punched out of Basic Black.

And my project is complete! I think this will be a frightful addition to my front door leading up to Halloween.

Sprinkles of Colour

Hello and welcome to my blog… Thank you for popping by!

Today I want to introduce you to the super fun Pigment Sprinkles, they are absolutely fabulous!

Image of Pigment Sprinkles product

What are Pigment Sprinkles?

Pigment Sprinkles are watercolour pigment crystals in exclusive Stampin’ Up! colours. Mix them with water to make watercolour backgrounds and washes, and use them for other watercolouring techniques. The possibilities are endless.

These crystals come in 6 beautiful Stampin’ UP! colours: Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Gorgeous Grape, Mango Melody and Melon Mambo.

Let’s Create …

The other night I sat down to give these amazing products a try and I was so thrilled with the results.

I thought that the Monster images from the Boo To You stamp set went perfectly with the colourful backgrounds that I created. To create the backgrounds was really easy … I simply sprinkled a little of the pigment crystals in a variety of colours and spritzed with water. Voila!!

In this card I spritzed just a small amount of water. You’ll notice that there are still some white spots showing through and the crystals aren’t all completely blended.

I sprayed just a little more water when I created this background. You can see that the crystals are more blended and there is very little white paper showing through. Same technique just more water.

Lastly, when I made this background I added quite a bit of water and as you can see the colour crystals all blended together and give a more saturated colourful background.

I love that there are lots of options and that no 2 backgrounds will ever be identical. Not only do I love the way they turned out, but it was so much fun to watch all the sprinkles come to life in these beautiful bursts of colour!!

Give them a try

A Sweet Harvest Hello

Hello Stampin’ friends and thank you for stopping by my blog! Today I want to share with you the adorable Harvest Hellos bundle from the Holiday catalogue. This sweet set is a must have for the fall season.

When I first saw this set in my preview of the catalogue I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it.

Harvest Apples

Aren’t those apples just darling? In this case I added some of the fabulous designer series paper from the Come to Gather collection. It has such a fun fall feel that I couldn’t resist … and when I think fall I think of back to school. The sentiments included with this set are perfect for all of the special teachers in our lives!

Trick – or – Treat

The jack-0-lantern option in this set makes it ideal for Halloween too! I made these adorable little treat holders … they’ll be perfect for our neighbourhood trick-or-treaters.

I can’t get enough of how cute this little guy is …

I like to send my nieces and nephews Halloween cards in the mail each year. Again this set made it so simple to create.

For this card I used a piece of designer series paper from the Monster Bash collection to add a little spooky to the background. (In a later post I will share just how spook-tacular the Monster Bash suite is)!

Notice how a little simple highlighting with the Stampin’ Blends really brings these pumpkins to life.

I hope that you have enjoyed today’s post and that the projects have brought some crafty inspiration into your day.

Here is a list of all of the products used for all three projects. Clicking on any of the images in the list will bring you to my online store. Remember if you are placing an order and use September’s host code MZ2QX6CZ you will be entered to win a prize from the Holiday catalogue!

Free as a Bird

Hello and welcome to my blog! Today I am sharing with you a beautiful card I created using the Bird Ballad suite. This suite is just gorgeous …. I love it. All the coordinating products makes it a breeze to design something beautiful!

Wouldn’t you agree that the imagery is stunning and lends itself perfectly to be coloured with the Stampin’ Blends.

For all of you that love these colouring tools as much as I do … did you seen that there are 6 new colour sets in the 2019-2020 Annual catalogue … “Thank you Stampin’ UP!!!” They have added Rocco Rose, So Saffron, Pretty Peacock, Seaside Spray, Purple Posy and Gray Granite to the Stampin’ Blends collection. My dream is that one day we will have them in EVERY colour!!!

New Stampin’ Blends

Anyway a little side tracked …. back to the card and the magnificent Bird Ballad suite.

I have used so many elements of this suite on this card and love how it turned out. The card base is one from the Bird Ballad Laser-Cut Cards & Tin, I really like the elegance of it and how subtle it comes out with a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock layered in behind. Not only do you get 12 of these laser-cut cards and envelopes but see that pretty tin the card is standing on … yes you get that too!!

This suite is just one of my ‘favourites’ from the new catalogue … stay tuned as I will be sharing many more with you in the future,

Scrapbooking Global May Blog Hop – Masculine

Hello and welcome to my blog, I am so happy you have stopped by to visit 🙂

I am excited to be a part of this month’s Scrapbooking Global blog hop and am honoured to be Guest Designer for May!

Masculine Theme

When I was told that as Guest Designer I was able to chose any theme I wanted I quickly decided on Masculine. I am Mom of two boys (well actually young men now) and so scrapbooking masculine layouts is a must. Sometimes these layouts can be a bit challenging as often the supplies close at hand have more of a feminine feel. However, when I sat down to design my layout for the blog hop I picked up my Country Livin’ stamp set and just started to play.

Featured Stamp Set

I am thrilled with the way the finished layout turned out. I have some great photos from a Country Music festival that will be the perfect finishing touch!

Design Elements

The first thing that I did to my Very Vanilla cardstock was to use the brick decorative mask and some embossing paste to make the texture on both sides of the paper. Once it was dry I dusted it with some Soft Suede ink using a Stamping Sponge. Next I randomly stamped the speckled image from the Magical Mermaid stamp set in Early Espresso.

All three images from the County Livin’ stamp set were used. Each was stamped using Momento ink and coloured in using the fabulous Stampin’ Blends markers. I fussy cut the truck, guitar and boots and added a little pop by adding dimensionals to the back. I also used the star image from the Country Road stamp set and the saying from the Let it Ride set. All three of these have a fantastic “Country” feel and went so well together on this layout.

I added a swirl of linen thread, some gold metallic pearls and a few True Gentlemen Buttons to add a bit more texture.

The triangles of Designer Series paper all come from the Wood Textures 6″ x 6″ pack. I cut them in half diagonally and distressed the edges with Soft Suede ink and a Stamping Sponge. Then I just layered them all together to add an eye catching array of wood texture to the top and bottom of the page.

One of my favourite things about Stampin’ UP! products is how easy it is to co-ordinate them all together. I used a number of products in designing this layout and will have the full list at the very end of this post.

Thank you
