Scrapbooking Global May Blog Hop – Masculine

Hello and welcome to my blog, I am so happy you have stopped by to visit 🙂

I am excited to be a part of this month’s Scrapbooking Global blog hop and am honoured to be Guest Designer for May!

Masculine Theme

When I was told that as Guest Designer I was able to chose any theme I wanted I quickly decided on Masculine. I am Mom of two boys (well actually young men now) and so scrapbooking masculine layouts is a must. Sometimes these layouts can be a bit challenging as often the supplies close at hand have more of a feminine feel. However, when I sat down to design my layout for the blog hop I picked up my Country Livin’ stamp set and just started to play.

Featured Stamp Set

I am thrilled with the way the finished layout turned out. I have some great photos from a Country Music festival that will be the perfect finishing touch!

Design Elements

The first thing that I did to my Very Vanilla cardstock was to use the brick decorative mask and some embossing paste to make the texture on both sides of the paper. Once it was dry I dusted it with some Soft Suede ink using a Stamping Sponge. Next I randomly stamped the speckled image from the Magical Mermaid stamp set in Early Espresso.

All three images from the County Livin’ stamp set were used. Each was stamped using Momento ink and coloured in using the fabulous Stampin’ Blends markers. I fussy cut the truck, guitar and boots and added a little pop by adding dimensionals to the back. I also used the star image from the Country Road stamp set and the saying from the Let it Ride set. All three of these have a fantastic “Country” feel and went so well together on this layout.

I added a swirl of linen thread, some gold metallic pearls and a few True Gentlemen Buttons to add a bit more texture.

The triangles of Designer Series paper all come from the Wood Textures 6″ x 6″ pack. I cut them in half diagonally and distressed the edges with Soft Suede ink and a Stamping Sponge. Then I just layered them all together to add an eye catching array of wood texture to the top and bottom of the page.

One of my favourite things about Stampin’ UP! products is how easy it is to co-ordinate them all together. I used a number of products in designing this layout and will have the full list at the very end of this post.

For the love of scrapbooking

The very first club I started almost immediately after becoming a Stampin’ UP! Demonstrator was my monthly scrapbook club.

I am happy to say that the club is still going strong almost 9 years later!

This month the layouts that I designed use a bunch of my current favourite SU! Products.

Double Layout

First I designed this fun, masculine double layout using the Classic Garage suite. As a Mom of two teenage boys … this suite is one of my all time favourites.

I just LOVE everything about this fabulous suite!!

For the past two years we have also been creating a single 12″ x 12″ scrapbook layout when we get together each month. For April’s single layout I designed a nice Springy page using a variety of Stampin’ UP! products.

Like I said before I have used a variety of products on this layout and am pleased with the fun spring feel.

Scrapbooking Global March 2019 Blog Hop

Hello and Welcome to my blog!! Today I am excited to share my layout design for this month’s blog hop … Our challenge was “Mixed Media”.

Scrapbooking Global Guest Designer for March is Nature Gibner. Her choice of theme for the month was definitely a challenge for me. Mixed Media is not something that I have played around with much in the past … but it sure was FUN!!

When I began thinking about what I would use to design this type of layout the first product that came to mind was Brusho Crystal Colours and secondly (and for sure one of my favourites) was the Classic Garage Product Suite.

Here is my Mixed Media layout …

As you can see there are lots of layers to this one. I started with a 12 x 12 sheet of Whisper White cardstock and sprinkled three shades of Brusho Crystal Colours diagonally down the center of the sheet and then sprayed it with water! Presto! Such a beautiful streak of colours … just what I was hoping for 🙂

I tore the corners of the Whisper White cardstock and put the whole page on a 12 x 12 sheet of Basic Black with a little Classic Garage Designer Series Paper tucked in behind. The square frames are cut from different sheets of the same Designer Series Paper stack and layered up in behind. Notice the fabulous metal embellies? Aren’t they just fantastic … the little key and wrench … Love them!!

I used Silver Foil Sheets to cut the gear dies from the Garage Gear thinlits. The cars and all of the round meters are fussy cut from the Classic Garage Designer Series Paper.

Thanks for Stopping by

I hope that you enjoyed my layout and find a little creative inspiration for your next project. Be sure to click on next and hop on over to see what the talented Sharni Haines has to share with you for her take on the Multi Media Challenge 🙂

Have a wonderful, crafty day!
