Accordion Z Fold Fun Fold Cards | Craft From Your Stash

18 Jan
Learn how to make an Accordion Z Fold card using one simple fun fold. This card design looks impressive but is easy to create, making it perfect for beginners and experienced card makers alike. Featuring two versions made with both current and retired supplies, this project is a great reminder that you can craft beautiful cards using what you already have in your stash. via @denise34

Last Thursday night on YouTube, we created a fun fold card called an Accordion Z Fold — a fold that looks impressive but is surprisingly simple once you see it come together.

I shared two versions of this card during the live:

  • one using the Cute as a Bug Designer Series Paper (current)
  • and one using the A Little Latte Designer Series Paper (retired and still one of my all-time favourites)

That combination was very intentional.

At Birdsnest Designs, I love mixing what’s new with what’s already in our stash. You don’t need the latest supplies to make beautiful cards — sometimes all it takes is a fresh fold or a new way of looking at what you already have.

If you missed the live or want to craft along again, you can watch the full replay below.

✂️ Accordion Z Fold Card Measurements

These measurements work for both versions of the card.

Card Base

  • 5-1/2″ x 11″ score along the long edge at 1-3/4″, 3-1/2″, 5-1/4″ and 7″
  • Fold along the score lines to create the accordion.

Front “Mini Card” Panel

  • 3″ x 6″ score at 3″ and fold in half

Inside Panel

  • 3-3/4″ x 5-1/4″

Designer Series Paper Strips

  • Four pieces: 1-1/2″ x 5-1/4″

From there, the decorating is completely flexible — Designer Series Paper, embossed cardstock, stamping, fussy cutting, or a mix of everything. There’s no right or wrong way to make this fold your own.

🩷 Two Versions — Same Fold, Different Feel

One of my favourite things about this fold is how versatile it is.

Using Cute as a Bug, the card feels playful and light — perfect for spring, birthdays, or just-because cards.

Using A Little Latte, the same fold becomes cozy and warm, with a completely different personality.

Same measurements.
Same fold.
Two very different cards.

It’s a great reminder that our stash already holds so much creative potential.

🛍️ Supplies Used

I’ve linked the available Stampin’ Up! products I used in this project below. Some of the items featured are retired, but I’ve included them for reference and inspiration — and because you may already have something similar waiting to be used.

🌿 A Gentle Reminder

If you don’t have the exact supplies I used, please don’t let that stop you.

  • Swap the paper.
  • Change the colours.
  • Use what you have.

Crafting should feel encouraging, not pressure-filled — and I hope this project inspires you to open your stash and create in a way that feels joyful and doable.

💛 Thanks for Being Here

Thank you so much for crafting along with me — whether you joined live or are watching the replay.

If you give this Accordion Z Fold a try, I would love to see what you make. You can share it with me over on Facebook, or reply to one of my emails and show me your project. Seeing what you create truly makes my day.

I’ll be back next Thursday night with another live project — and until then, happy crafting.
