Christmas Fun Fold Cards | Same Fold, A Whole New Look!

What happens when you’ve used up all that pretty patterned paper that coordinates perfectly with your favourite stamp and die bundle?

You keep creating, of course!! ✂️

That’s exactly what we’re doing with these Christmas fun fold cards, and I had so much fun playing with this idea!

I’m using the adorable Christmas Mice bundle from Stampin’ Up! to make two cards with the very same fun fold. The first one uses the coordinating Christmas paper, but for the second, I pulled out some bright, cheerful Designer Series Paper that I’ve had tucked away in my stash for a couple of years.

And oh my goodness, what a difference a paper swap can make!

Same stamps, same fold, but two completely different looks. I love how changing a few colours and patterns can give a card a whole new personality!

It’s also a wonderful reminder that we don’t need to have all the perfectly matching supplies to make something beautiful. Sometimes all it takes is a fresh look at what we’ve already got.

Let’s Make Some Christmas Fun Fold Cards!

Grab a cup of coffee, get comfortable and come craft with me! In the video below, I’ll show you how these cards come together, share some helpful tips along the way and hopefully inspire you to pull out a few papers from your own stash.

Christmas Fun Fold Card Measurements

This is such a fun design to play with, and the extra folded section makes it a little different from your everyday card.

Here are the cardstock measurements to get you started:

  • Card base: 4¼” × 8¼”, scored at 5½”
  • Coordinating cardstock: 3″ × 5½”, scored at ½”
  • Additional cardstock panel: 2½” × 4¼”
  • White cardstock: 4 x 5¼” and 2¼” x 4″ plus scrap for stamping
  • Patterned Paper: 2¾” × 4¾” and 2½” x 4″

The smaller scored piece creates the additional flap that gives this card its fun fold design.

Watch the video to see how everything fits together, along with the patterned paper, stamping and finishing touches.

And remember, you can change up the colours and papers to make this design work for all sorts of occasions!

One Fun Fold, Two Very Different Christmas Cards

First Up — The Coordinating Christmas Mice Paper

For the first card, I used the Christmas Mice bundle along with its coordinating Designer Series Paper.

I love how easy it is to pull a card together when the colours and patterns are already designed to work with one another. It takes some of the guesswork out of deciding what to use!

And those little Christmas mice are just too cute!

But I don’t want to put a favourite stamp set away simply because I’ve used up the matching paper. There’s still so much more creating to be done!

Now Let’s Give It a Whole New Look!

This is where the fun really begins!

For my second card, I kept the same Christmas Mice bundle and the same fun fold but changed the patterned paper and coordinating cardstock.

I pulled out some bright, colourful Christmas paper that had been sitting in my stash for a couple of years, and I absolutely love the different look it gave this card!

It’s amazing how much personality a little change in paper can bring to a project.

And the best part? I got to enjoy using some beautiful paper I already had instead of feeling like I needed to buy something new to go with my stamps and dies.

That’s a win in my books!
