Best Catch

Hello and welcome! I can’t believe that we are already into the last week of May. The new catalogue will be here before we know it … 8 more sleeps!! For this card I simply stamped the fish, basket and hat onto cardstock and cut them out with the matching framelits. No colouring needed!! I cut the bullrush from Early Espresso cardstock to layer behind the fishing basket. Using the Stitched Shapes dies I cut a square from the middle of the wood grain paper. The whole card came together so quickly, I just added the linen thread around the bottom and a couple of metallic pearls for a bit of bling! Layered it all together with some bump-its (AKA dimensionals) and presto quick and easy card!!

It’s Easy to Step-It-Up with Best Catch too!

For this card I stepped it up just a little bit!! I used a standard card base in Mint Macaron followed by a layer of Crumb Cake then a crumpled layer of Gray Granite. To get the look on this layer I literally crumpled the cardstock into a ball in my hands. I opened it up and used a sponge dauber and Early Espresso ink to distress the heck out of it!! Voila!! I adhered that little masterpiece using ‘bump-its’ so as not to lose the effect.

I stamped the fish from the Best Catch stamp set and used my Blender Pens to add some colour then cut them out with the coordinating framelit. The greeting is stamped on Terracotta Tile cardstock and punched out with the Classic Label punch. This is layered onto the Tailored Tag punch-out in Crumb Cake with distressed edges. And I added in some bullrushes cut from Early Espresso and Crumb Cake layered together and some torn scrap pieces in both Terracotta Tile and Mint Macaron. Notice that little stiched square in the wood grain… that’s what was cut out from the first card. For extra dimension I took a piece of retired burlap ribbon and frayed it apart and added metallic pearls for the needed “bling”. This will be a great Father’s Day to hand out this year!!
