One Card Layout, Two Beautiful Fall Thank You Cards

Fall is in the air here in Saskatchewan, and I couldn’t resist creating two beautiful fall thank you cards with the gorgeous Harvest Glow Designer Series Paper during Wednesday night’s live!

I started with a card I had made previously and used its layout as inspiration. Then, with a little help from everyone watching live, we created two completely different fall thank you cards: one with the new Simply Leaves Bundle and another using the retired Amber Autumn Bundle from my stash.

Simply Leaves with a Pop of Pretty Peacock

For the first card, I stamped and punched two large Cajun Craze leaves, then added smaller gingham leaves in Golden Glow and Pretty Peacock.

Pretty Peacock may not be the first colour that comes to mind for a fall card, but I love the unexpected pop it adds! A golden ribbon bow, a simple “thanks” banner and a few coordinating embellishments finished off the little cluster perfectly.

Amber Autumn from My Craft Stash

The second card features the beautiful pumpkin image from the retired Amber Autumn Bundle.

I stamped the image in Early Espresso, then added loose touches of colour with Shimmer Brushes. I wasn’t trying to colour every little detail perfectly. A few scribbles of colour were all it needed!

I also used an old favourite trick: picking up Pecan Pie ink with my Wink of Stella. It lets you add colour and shimmer at the same time using an ink pad you already own.

After plenty of live discussion about circles, leaves and whether or not the card needed a bow, we settled on a Pecan Pie circle, a Golden Glow “thanks” banner and no bow. Sometimes knowing when to stop is part of the creative process too!

Card Measurements

Both cards use the same basic measurments:

• Card base: 5-1/2″ × 8-1/2″, folded at 4-1/4″
• Coordinating cardstock layer: 4″ × 5-1/4″
• Harvest Glow Designer Series Paper: 3-3/4″ × 5″
• Very Vanilla cardstock: scraps for stamping and punched pieces
• Pecan Pie cardstock: 2-3/8″ circle for the Amber Autumn card
• Golden Glow cardstock: scrap for the sentiment banner
