Oh My Fright Halloween Card with a Fun Card Sketch

There is just something about cute Halloween crafting that makes me happy, and these sweet little ghosts from the Oh My Fright Bundle definitely fit the bill!

For this project, I pulled out one of my favourite card-making tools: a card sketch. When I’m staring at all the pretty things in my craft room and have no idea where to start, a sketch gives me that little creative nudge I need.

From there, I can follow it exactly, flip it, turn it or change things up completely. That’s where the fun begins!

For this card I paired the Oh My Fright Bundle with some Frightfully Fun Designer Series Paper, then mixed in Basic Gray, Basic Black and Very Vanilla.

And yes, I even mixed Very Vanilla with white ghosts. There are no crafting police here! 😉

The little “Boo to You” sentiment is heat embossed in white, which really makes it pop against the black cardstock, and those two layered ghosts might just be my favourite part.

Watch the Card Come Together

If you’d like to see exactly how I made this card, including the heat embossing, stamping and how I used the sketch to put everything together, you can watch the video below.

And remember, you don’t need the exact same stamps or paper to use this layout. Shop your stash, pull out something you love and make this sketch work with what you have.

A sketch is just a starting point. Make it yours!

Card Measurements

  • Basic Gray card base: 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″
  • Spider web DSP: 3-3/4″ x 5″
  • Striped DSP: 2″ x 4-1/4″
  • Very Vanilla cardstock: 3″ x 3″
  • Basic Black sentiment piece: 1-1/4″ x 1-1/4″
  • Very Vanilla inside layer: 4″ x 5-1/4″

I also carried those fabulous spiderwebs to the inside of the card because you know me… I don’t like leaving the insides naked!

A couple of stamped corners and a simple Happy Halloween finished it off perfectly.
