Secret Sliding Message Card Two Ways

I love a fun fold that looks impressive but really isn’t difficult to make, and this Secret Sliding Message Card is exactly that!

The best part? Once you know how the fold works, you can turn it, change up the supplies and make it look completely different.

For these two cards I did just that. One uses the retired BBQ Master set from my stash in the traditional portrait orientation, while the other turns the whole design sideways and uses the Painted Pumpkins Bundle for a fun fall version.

When you open the card, the hidden message panel slides into view. Such a fun little surprise!

For the second version I pulled out BBQ Master and some retired Autumn Toile Designer Series Paper. Same measurements. Same fold. Totally different card!

And of course, that secret message slides out when the card opens too.

Secret Sliding Message Card Measurements

All measurements are in inches.

  • Cardstock: 4-1/4 x 5-1/2
  • Cardstock: 8-1/2 x 5-1/4, scored at 2-3/4 and 6-3/4
  • Cardstock: 3-3/4 x 4-1/4, scored at 3/8
  • Cardstock: 2-1/2 x 5
  • Designer Series Paper: 1-5/8 x 5-1/8
  • Designer Series Paper: 2-5/8 x 5-1/8
  • Basic White or Very Vanilla: 3-1/4 x 4-1/8
  • Basic White or Very Vanilla: 2-1/4 x 4-3/4

The measurements stay exactly the same for both cards. To make the landscape version, you’re simply turning the design and letting that secret message slide upward instead of out to the side.

One of my favourite things about this fold is how easily you can make it your own. Pull out a stamp set you haven’t used in a while, grab some patterned paper from your stash and see what completely different version you can create.
