Ink Embossed Cardstock – Two Easy Ways

Embossed cardstock is one of my favourite ways to add instant texture to a card, and adding ink takes it one step further. For this week’s Technique Thursday, I’m sharing two simple ways to add ink to embossed cardstock while creating two handmade cards.

Both cards use the same basic technique, just applied a little differently to show how versatile it can be.

Handmade pink birthday card featuring a bear holding a baby bear, with inked embossed cardstock, soft heart background, and ribbon accent.
Handmade sunflower card with yellow inked embossed cardstock, layered panels, and a sentiment strip showing an inking technique on embossed paper.

Watch & Create With Me

In the video, I demonstrate:

  • Adding ink with a brayer for smooth, even coverage
  • Using sponge daubers for more controlled inking
  • How pressure and colour choice change the final look

This is a great technique to try with whatever embossing folders and inks you already have on hand.

I love how this technique brings embossed cardstock to life, and it’s easy to adapt with different folders, inks, and colour combinations. I hope this inspires you to pull out an embossing folder and give it a try at your craft table.
